Bulletin for July 12, 2020
Phase 1 of the auditorium renovation is complete. Phase 2 is scheduled to start this coming Saturday [July 18]. A motorized projector screen is scheduled to be framed in and installed and the projector will be mounted on the ceiling. The new audio mixer will be installed in order to have our services streamed to Facebook Live from the PTZ camera that was installed on the back wall. This will eliminate using the iPad on a tripod. We are trying to eliminate the clutter of wires at the front of the stage area.
The reason for all of this is four-fold.
- The existing 3-step stage takes up a LOT of usable space. We will be able to increase our seating capacity. This is one issue that has been around since 2004.
- The exposed wiring and floor mounted projector has been a tripping hazard for the men serving at the Lord’s Table. That has been an issue for at least 8 years.
- The screen will greatly enhance the picture quality from the projector. People in the back will be able to see the presentations much more clearly.
- I have noticed that men who would go up to the podium had difficulty with the 3 steps. On several occasions I witnessed men who nearly did a faceplant from tripping on the slippery steps. There is no bannister or railing to prevent that. Men with bad backs or bad knees could barely make the climb. The new podium will have only one 6” step.
Once again, I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the men who sacrificed their Saturday to help with the work that has been done in Phase 1.
Bill
