Bulletin for July 30, 2023
If you think you are just going thru the motions, then you may want to look at the 2nd article. Hopefully you can find perspective .
Our first article presents a compelling reason for attending Bible Study sessions. Personally, it was attending the Bible Study classes where I found the answers to my questions. Sermons are good, when we pay attention, but when we can engage in a dialogue we can find the edification that may be missing by listening to a sermon.
It’s all about Percentages. – Every year everyone has 208 opportunities to express worship, prayer and appreciation to the Lord by attending the regularly scheduled services. If you participated in every Sunday morning session you have a 25% service ratio. By attending only 35 Wednesday sessions your percentage would jump to 42%. If you attended half of the Sunday morning Bible Studies, your service percentage would be 55%. Finally if you only attended half of the Sunday evening worship services, your service percentage for the year would be 67%.
Granted, service to the Lord extends way beyond just filling a pew. The Lord knows the things we do for others during the week. Not everyone is blessed with good health to attend in person, but we now have opportunity to participate virtually. It may not be the same, but at least the effort is seen by the Lord. How many of you seek out a place for worship while out of town or on vacation? The Lord sees that too. How about the countless hours our bible class teachers put in? The Lords sees that as well. Preparing communion, cutting the grass, providing rides to services, etc. That all adds up!
And only the Lord is the one keeping score!
If someone has not attended any Bible Classes at all last year, then just attending ONE class will see a 100% increase from the previous year!
Please share this bulletin with anyone if you have an opportunity to do so. [That counts as well!]
God bless,
Bill
