This week on Wednesday, approximately 1/3 of the Western Religious world is entering a period known as the “Lenten Season”. Lent begins with a day called Ash Wednesday [Feb 14]. Lent is a period of 40 days to anticipate a celebration of Easter Sunday. The article by Steve Higginbotham gives us great insight into the practices of the Easter Season.

Trivia Fact: the ashes come from burning palm fronds on Palm Sunday. If you remember, the people placed palms along the way into Jerusalem while was making his triumphant entrance to the city. Tomorrow Feb 11 is Palm Sunday.

After reading this article you will see that Ash Wednesday is just as scriptural as the Easter Bunny.
